The Catcher in the Rye

Salinger wrote The Catcher in the Rye in 1951. The novel became very popular among teenagers as well as adult readers because of its themes such as teenage confusion, angst, alienation, identity and rebellion. The novel's main character, Holden Caulfield, became an icon for teenage rebellion. 

The novel has been translated into many different languages and was sold 250.000 copies each year. 

The Catcher in the Rye is on Time's 2005 list of the 100 best English-language novels written since 1923. It was also named as one of the 100-best English-language novels of the 20th century by Modern Lİbrary and its readers.
